LESCO tariff

LESCO tariff is the price charged for electricity consumption. It varies based on usage, with higher consumption leading to higher rates.

Consumers are divided into two categories:

  • Protected Consumers: Lower tariff rates for low-income users.
  • Unprotected Consumers: Higher rates for those with greater electricity usage.

The tariff helps cover operational costs and ensures fair distribution of charges.

Electricity Bill Slabs

LESCO follows a slab-based billing system to support low-income users. Consumers with lower electricity usage pay lower rates, while higher consumption results in increased unit rates.

When a user moves to a higher slab, the electricity bill rises significantly. This system ensures affordability for low-usage consumers while charging higher rates to those using more electricity.

Protected Consumers

Protected consumers are those who use up to 200 units per month consistently for six months. This category enjoys lower electricity rates and remains unaffected by price hikes and fuel price adjustments. If your monthly usage stays within this limit, you can benefit from reduced electricity costs and financial relief on your energy bills.

Slabs Units Rate (PKR)
1 0-50 (Life Line Users) 3.95
2 51-100 (Life Line Users) 7.74
3 1-100 12.21
4 101-200 14.53

Unprotected Consumers

Higher Usage, Higher Costs

Consumers using more than 200 units per month fall under the unprotected category. They face higher electricity rates, and unit prices increase as consumption rises. Additionally, they must pay fuel price adjustments every quarter along with other taxes.

To reduce electricity costs, installing a solar system and opting for Net Metering can be a great solution. Learn more by visiting our Net Metering page.

Slabs Units Rate (PKR)
1 1-100 20.85
2 101-200 27.32
3 201-300 31.51
4 301-400 38.41
5 401-500 41.62
6 501-600 43.04
7 601-700 44.18
8 701-Onward 49.10
Peak Hours 48.27
Off-Peak Hours 41.95

Peak/Off-Peak Hours

When electricity consumption is high, it is called peak hours. During this time, most users utilize electricity, increasing the burden on the national grid and resulting in higher prices. These hours vary with seasonal changes.

Peak Hours by Season:

  • Summer (April – October): 6:30 PM – 10:30 PM
  • Winter (November – March): 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Off-Peak Hours: All other hours outside peak time

Understanding peak and off-peak hours can help manage electricity consumption and reduce costs.

Season Peak Timing Off-Peak Timing
Dec-Feb 5 pm – 9 pm Remaining 20 hours
March-May 6 pm – 10 pm Remaining 20 hours
Jun-Aug 7 pm – 11 pm Remaining 20 hours
Sep-Nov 6 pm – 10 pm Remaining 20 hours

How to Reduce Your Electricity Bill

Are you worried about high electricity bills? Don’t worry! Here are some practical tips to help you lower your electricity consumption and reduce costs efficiently.

1. Upgrade to Energy-Efficient Appliances

Old and outdated appliances consume more electricity. Replacing them with energy-efficient models will significantly reduce power consumption.

2. Turn Off Unused Appliances

Make it a habit to turn off extra lights and unplug electrical devices when they are not in use. Many appliances continue to draw power even when switched off but still plugged in.

3. Avoid Using Heavy Appliances During Peak Hours

Using high-power appliances like irons, refrigerators, air conditioners, and water pumps during peak hours can result in higher bills due to increased rates. Try to use them during off-peak hours.

4. Stay in the Protected Consumer Category

If possible, limit your electricity usage to stay within the protected category (below 200 units per month). If not, try to remain in the lowest possible slab to reduce costs.

By following these tips and staying updated on new energy-saving technologies, you can effectively lower your electricity bill.

How to Check the Load-Shedding Schedule?

Electricity shortages are a common issue due to increasing demand. To manage this, scheduled load-shedding is implemented to balance supply and demand.

Facing unexpected power outages can be frustrating. To help consumers plan their electricity usage, LESCO provides a load-shedding schedule so they can prepare in advance.

Steps to Check the Load-Shedding Schedule:

  1. Visit the Load-Shedding Schedule page.
  2. Click on the relevant section to view your area’s schedule.
  3. Check the timings and plan your activities accordingly.

This will help you avoid unexpected disruptions and manage your electricity usage efficiently.
